Selecting Varieties: For spring planting, select sets for green tops and smaller bulbs or plants for larger bulbs.
  • Candy Apple Red: Globe-shaped onion ideal for fresh eating or cooking. Sweet flavor. Harvest in 95 days.
  • Candy Yellow: Large, yellow-skinned, onion. Mild & sweet. Harvest in 85 days.
  • Super Star White: Mild white onion with thick rings. Plant no more than 1” deep. Harvest in 85 days.
  • Walla Walla: Large, very sweet yellow skinned onion. Mild flavor. Harvest in 60-70 days.
Planting & Care: Plant into loose soil as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring. If you’re planting sets, bury the bulb halfway in the soil. Water and fertilize regularly with a low nitrogen fertilizer until bulb has enlarged at the soil surface.  If flower stalks emerge, cut them before the open.  Once an onion flowers, it has “bolted” and will not be good for eating. Harvesting & Storage: When tops yellow and flop over in late summer, they are ready to be dried. Pull them gently and allow them to cure for several weeks before braiding the tops or trimming them for storage in a cool, dark, dry place.
