Description
Crabapples are among the most popular spring flowering trees. They’re adaptable to a range of soil types. Buds for the next season will set in mid-summer, so prune in early June if needed. Suckers should be removed and pruning the center of the plant to encourage air movement can help prevent disease problems. Sargent Firebird has white flowers that emerge from red buds. Persistent, 3/8 inch ruby red fruit remains shiny and bright into November, and is a favorite of birds. Dark green leaves. Excellent disease and Japanese beetle resistance.For reference only:
