Description

Crabapples are among the most popular spring flowering trees. They’re adaptable to a range of soil types. Buds for the next season will set in mid-summer, so prune in early June if needed. Suckers should be removed and pruning the center of the plant to encourage air movement can help prevent disease problems. Professor Sprenger is one of the best crabapples based on flowers, fruit, and foliage. White flowers emerge from reddish pink buds. 5/8 inch orange red fruit persists into December. The fruit is considered especially showy. Green leaves.
