Description
The Black Elderberry is a deciduous, spreading, sometimes tree-form large shrub sometimes reaching over 15’ tall if left alone. Flowers emerge in late spring and produces a very aromatic, white flower. Black elderberries follow the flowers and are very attractive to wildlife and have many culinary uses. The Instant Karma cultivar is known for its variegated foliage and deer resistance. They prefer wet, well drained soils in full sun to light shade. Tolerates a variety of soils and spreads through underground stolons. Annual pruning is encouraged to prevent weedy appearance. They are typically used in naturalizing screens or hedges.Additional information
